Linguistic trips to Bilbao: Cooking, Sport and Culture

From 3 Nights / 4 Days

What does it include?

This city, its province and the rest of the Basque Country offer many attractions for our student and teacher groups.

The city has an interesting and well-preserved historic center, and has transformed and adapted its river estuary for today’s times.

We love its architecture, food, landscapes and its proximity to other interesting villages and cities.

There are many activities to enjoy, including the Guggenheim Museum, the Rivera Market and the Fine Arts Museum. Among other cultural tours there are also themed tours: Guernica, the Spanish Civil War…, trips and much more.

Santiago's (St. James) Cathedral

Dedicated to the official patron saint of Bilbao since 1643. It was built at the end of the 14th century in a Gothic style and has three main naves with clerestories and ambulatories. The cloister is small but beautiful in Gothic style. It acquired the title of Cathedral in 1949, and its towers and main façade, made in neo-Gothic style by Severino de Achucarro, were completed in 1887.

Azkuna Center Or Azkuna Zentroa

It was an old winery until its transformation into a cultural and leisure center.

Trip to Guernica

The city was bombed during the Spanish Civil War. Inspired by this incident, Pablo Picasso painted his work entitled Guernica, which was presented at the Paris International Exposition in 1937. In the city, you can visit the Peace Museum (which is dedicated to spreading knowledge and educating visitors about the principles and basic ideas of peace), the Pueblos de Europa Park and the Guernica Mural.

Excursion to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe (Dragonstone In Game Of Thrones))

Visit one of the Game of Thrones shooting locations in the Basque Country. Dragonstone is located in San Juan de Gaztelugatxe.

Trip to San Sebastián

This city, also known as Donostia, is located on a white sandy bay between the hills of Urgull and Igeldo. Fisherman's houses, an elegant suburb and modern districts make it one of the most attractive cities on the Cantabrian coast.

Rivera Market

It has an eccentric style and beautiful architecture with magnificent stained glass windows. It was built by Pedro Ispizua Susunaga of Bermeo. This market was opened in 1929 and is very popular because of its great deals on seafood. After the summer floods of 1983, the interior of the market was restructured, cleaned and modernized.

Fine Arts Museum

Considered one of the best in Europe. This old building, work of Fernando Urrutia, was inaugurated in 1945 with a donation of old paintings from D. Laureano de Jado. It has 35 rooms with magnificent classical, modern and contemporary decoration. We also offer workshops related to the different exhibitions.

San Telmo Museum (San Sebastián)

It is divided into three sections (Fine Arts, History and Archaeology), with exhibitions of paintings, sculptures, drawings, engravings, weapons, medals, coins, ceramics, musical instruments, photographs, pre-Columbian artifacts, religious precious metalwork... A very heterogeneous collection that shows the evolution of social life in the Basque Country over time.

Museo de San Telmo (San Sebastián)

It occupies the old Colegio de San Andrés de la Compañía de Jesus and its cloisters. Opened in 1920, it was transformed in 1970 into the Museum of Archaeology, Ethnography and Basque History. It has expositions on Bizkaia archaeology, fishing and agricultural ethnography, imagery, ceramics, amenities, etc.

Palacio de la Diputación De Bizkaia Palace

Visit to the Palacio de la Diputación de Bizkaia. The building combines baroque and medieval art. Its rooms reflect the bourgeois wealth and mentality of the time.

Boat Trip

Cruise on the Bilbao Estuary to the Cantanbrian Sea, passing under the Vizcaya Bridge.

Plaza Nueva

These tours are organized around Bilbao city center.

Plaza De Toros Bilbao

The Bilbao bullfighting arena is one of the most emblematic buildings of Bilbao.

Pont De Vizcaya

Today, Plaza Nueva has become an urban landmark in the historic center of Bilbao, and is one of the main hubs of the city's social life. The colonnade of this monumental neoclassical site is home to a variety of shops, bars, restaurants and cafés, where it is almost impossible not to stop and enjoy the lively atmosphere of the square.

Suspension Bridge

The Puente de Vizcaya Bridge is very close to Bilbao, and is the world's oldest transporter bridge. It is fully functional to this day and is now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Arriaga Theater

Built by Joaquín Rucoba and Octavio de Toledo, this theater was inaugurated on May 31st, 1890, and named after the Bilbao composer "Juan Crisostomo de Arriaga". It is one of the city's most remarkable buildings, inspired by the Paris Opera and with a magnificent luxury interior. Its façade has an eclectic and elegant style with large balconies held by human statues. It was completely restored in 1986, but still preserves the furniture and furnishings of the period, as well as the tapestries from the National Royal Factory.
